Nurturing the Spiritual Life of Children

I. Introduction

A. Proverbs 4:3-4 (NLT) 3For I, too, was once my father’s son, tenderly loved as my mother’s only child. 4My father taught me, “Take my words to heart. Follow my commands, and you will live.”

B. Proverbs 15:16 (NAS) Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and turmoil with it.

C. Proverbs 20:24 (NAS) Man’s steps are ordained by the LORD, how then can man understand his way?

D. Proverbs 13:24 (NLT) Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children. Those who love their children care enough to discipline them.

E. Proverbs 19:18 (NLT) Discipline your children while there is hope. Otherwise you will ruin their lives.

F. Proverbs 29:11 (NLT) Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.

G. Psalm 23:4 (NAS) Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

H. Matthew 11:28 (NAS) “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”
