- Introduction
- Luke 1:28-29 (NLT) 28Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!”29Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean.
- Luke 1:30-31 (NLT) 30“Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! 31You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.
- Mark 6:2-3 (NLT) 2The next Sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. They asked, “Where did he get all this wisdom and the power to perform such miracles?” 3Then they scoffed, “He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.” They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.
- John 8:48 (NLT) The people retorted, “You Samaritan devil! Didn’t we say all along that you were possessed by a demon?”
- Luke 1:38 (NLT) Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.
- Luke 1:35 (NLT) The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.”
- Luke 2:9-11 (NLT) 9Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, 10but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. 11The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!”
- Luke 2:14 (NLT) “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
- Luke 2:18-19 (NLT) 18All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, 19but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.
- Luke 2:29-32 (NLT) 29“Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised.30I have seen your salvation,31which you have prepared for all people.32He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!”
- Luke 2:34-35 (NLT) 33Jesus’ parents were amazed at what was being said about him. 34Then Simeon blessed them, and he said to Mary, the baby’s mother, “This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall, but he will be a joy to many others. He has been sent as a sign from God, but many will oppose him. 35As a result, the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul.”
- Luke 2:48-49 (NLT) 48His parents didn’t know what to think. “Son,” his mother said to him, “why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been frantic, searching for you everywhere.” 49“But why did you need to search?” he asked. “Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
- Luke 2:51 (NLT) Then he returned to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. And his mother stored all these things in her heart.
- Mark 3:21 (NLT) When his family heard what was happening, they tried to take him away. “He’s out of his mind,” they said.
- John 7:5 (NLT) For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.
- Mark 3:31-35 (NLT) 31Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him. They stood outside and sent word for him to come out and talk with them. 32There was a crowd sitting around Jesus, and someone said, “Your mother and your brothers are outside asking for you.”33Jesus replied, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 34Then he looked at those around him and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. 35Anyone who does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.”
- John 19:25 (NLT) Standing near the cross were Jesus’ mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Mary Magdalene.
- John 19:26-27 (NLT) 26When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, “Dear woman, here is your son.” 27And he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home.
- Acts 1:14 (NLT) They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.
