transforming ordinary people into extraordinary followers of christ

New Bible Study Books Coauthored by Brian T. Anderson

Greetings,

I am sending you this e-mail to let you know about an exciting new venture I’ve been working on.

While there are many good Bible study books available, very few of them are written from the “Empowered Evangelical” perspective that we have in the Vineyard. To help fill that void I am co-authoring, along with Glynnis Whitwer, a Bible study series called, “Kingdom Living”.

Ampelon Publishing has just released the first two studies in this series: “Six Habits of Highly Effective Christians,” and “Worship: Nearing the Heart of God.” Two more studies will be available in the spring on knowing God and living in Biblical community (these titles haven’t been finalized). Each book contains six lessons, with approximately 15 questions each. Each lesson also includes a memory verse and room for personal journaling and prayer requests. There is also a leader’s guide at the back of each book with additional notes for those leading a Bible study.

It is my hope that small both groups and individuals will use these studies. They combine Bible study with the core values of the Vineyard. Because of that, they would be great to use in leadership development and general teachings on Vineyard values.

It is my sincere hope that through these studies you will be inspired and impacted by God. Please stop by the Bookstore and check them out!

Love,
Brian

Worship: Nearing the Heart of God

We talk about worship all the time in church and we practice it each weekend, but what is worship really all about? Why do we do it? What purpose and place does it have in our lives as followers of Jesus? In the first small group study in the Kingdom Living series, you will explore the answers to these questions and many more through looking at these topics: Settling the Issue of Lordship, Experiencing God in Worship, Gaining a God-Perspective, Developing Our Character, Overcoming Obstacles to Worship, and Worship through Advancing God's Kingdom.

Throughout these six sessions, you'll learn why worship plays such an integral role in God's Kingdom -- and you'll learn it together through studying God's Word and sharing your insights with each other.

About the Authors

Brian T. Anderson is the founding pastor of Vineyard Church North Phoenix in Phoenix, AZ. In September 1985, Brian and his wife, Thora, planted the church as a home Bible study, which has grown to over 3,500 weekend attendees.

Glynnis Whitwer is a member at Vineyard Church North Phoenix, and is involved in several ministries. She is also the senior editor of P31 Woman magazine for Proverbs 31 Ministries, the author of work@home: A Practical Guide for Women Who Want to Work from Home, and is a contributing author to books published by Focus on the Family, Harvest House, and Proverbs 31 Ministries.

Six Habits of Highly Effective Christians

Simply going to church and adhering to a list of "dos" and "don'ts" is a far cry from the life God intends for us to have as Christians. He wants us to change the world around us, which begins by understanding the power of a deep relationship with Him. In the second small group study in the Kingdom Living series, you will explore ways to deepen your relationship with God and become a more effective Christian, exploring the following disciplines: Knowing the Bible, Making Prayer a Priority, Living a Life of Obedience, Giving to God, Living in Community, and Serving Others. Throughout these six sessions, you'll learn secrets of effective Christians, how it has revolutionized their faith, and how it can revolutionize yours, too.

I just picked up the first volume book Sunday and did the first chapter yesterday and it is very encouraging! I could write a book but God has done amazing things in my life this past year. He has broken me and pointed out many things I have and must change. It has been a challenging road but an exilerating, exciting journey. I have never felt so much overwhelming joy and blessings during trials before. One major thing that has been put in light by God is my self-seeking mentatlity. I have been working on putting God first, look up first even when it is really hard and I do not want to. So after reading the first chapter...ah ha! confirmation again!!! 'Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all will be given to you' Matt. 6:33 as well as the 1st commandment. I don't think Christians see that the first idol their serving is themselves. I didn't see it that way at first either...we always think it is with money or people or things but ultimately it starts with "I". I have to also add that two days before I purchased this book I discovered that Glynnis Whitmer was a speaker for Proverbs Ministry. I have been getting the daily devotions for a year now and what another blessing in my life. So when it dawned on me that Pastor Brian and her wrote these I was overjoyed. I can't thank you enough for the Vineyard mininstry and how you have help impact my life for God....like I said I could go on...I do not have enough room :-) God Bless You all at the Vineyard!!!!! Praise God, Brenda Baehre
