Phase 3: Planning for Church Planting
(12-8 months out)
The focus for this phase is to begin preparation and planning for the upcoming church plant. In this phase the goal is to understand who you are as a person and a leader; to understand and work on your vision, values, and mission; and to begin clarifying your purpose, plans, and target area.
- Make sure your coach contacts the Vineyard CPC and the APC in the area or region you will be planting. Your Church Planting Coach will contact the Church Planting Coordinator in the area you are planning to plant. This will happen once you have received the green light from your coach to begin the process.
- Interview two area pastors that have planted churches in the city that you are targeting and write a one-page reflection on how what you learned from this pastor and how this will impact your plant.
- Find and organize the essential demographics of the area/zip code you are targeting. Create a demographic document of your target area and review it with your coach
- Write out a potential Vision Statement for the Church Plant - See the Three Examples Provided Vineyard Church of North Phoenix; Vineyard Columbus; Saddleback Community Church.

- Write out a timeline for your church plant; Include the following:
An initial "Two Year Plan. ("See The Royal Oak Two Year Proposal and The VCF Albany Two Year Plan examples.) This Two Year Plan should include the 8-10 months before you launch your church (i.e. How you plan to recruit a team What you plan to do for a job in the new city )
