I Know Someone Who Thinks Racism is Not a Problem Today
Series: I Know Someone Who…
Speaker: Brian T. Anderson
- Introduction
- “Racism isn’t a problem for me or for most people in this church or community!”
- What the Bible Says About Racism
- James 2:1-4 (NLT) 1My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others?2For example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes. 3If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, “You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor”—well,4doesn’t this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives?
- “You are not like me, therefore, you are excluded !”
- God is no respecter of persons!
- Acts 10:34-35 (NLT) 34Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. 35In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.
- God judges people based on their heart .
- I Sam. 16:7b (NAS) “For God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
- Two Things That Will Help Us in This Area
- Get into a ministry with someone of another race.
- Look at your everyday life and try to identify ways you can improve race relations.
- “Be open-armed with them and help them learn and grow.”
- Are we going to go out of our way to welcome them, embrace them, and include them?
- Conclusion
