1. Introduction
1. I Cor. 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
2. Overcoming temptation
1. Be willing to obey the Bible !
1. Ps. 119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word.
2. The Bible is the only reliable authority !
3. I Thess. 4:3 (NLT) God wants you to be holy, so you should keep clear of all sexual sin.
4. I Cor. 6:18 (NLT) Run away from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body.
5. Eph. 5:3 (NLT) Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God�s people.
2. Work on your marriage !
1. Prov. 5:18-19 ¹⁸Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice in the wife of your youth. ¹⁹As a loving hind and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; Be exhilarated always with her love.
2. I Cor. 7:5 (NLT) So do not deprive each other of sexual relations. The only exception to this rule would be the agreement of both husband and wife to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time, so they can give themselves more completely to prayer. Afterward they should come together again so that Satan won�t be able to tempt them because of their lack of self-control.
3. Control your mind .
1. James 1:14-15 (NLT) ¹⁴Temptation comes from the lure of our own evil desires. ¹⁵These evil desires lead to evil actions, and evil actions lead to death.
2. Matt. 5:28 (NLT) But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
4. Monitor your media intake .
1. Matt. 6:22-23 ²²�The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. ²³But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!�
2. II Tim. 2:22a (NLT) Run from anything that stimulates youthful lust.
5. Minimize opportunities for temptation .
1. Matt. 26:41 (NLT) �Keep alert and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you. For though the spirit is willing enough, the body is weak!�
2. I Cor. 15:33 Do not be deceived: �Bad company corrupts good morals.�
6. Magnify the consequences of giving in to temptation !
   1. I Thess. 4:6 (NLT) Never cheat a Christian brother in this matter by taking his wife, for the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before.
   2. James 1:12 (NLT) God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
3. Where do I go from here?
1. Those who have blown it .
1. I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
2. Those who have remained pure .
1. Wait for God�s best !
