- Introduction
- Evangelism Defined
- “Evangelism”: Those who know telling those who don’t.
- “Euangelion”: good news
- Telling people about Jesus is only the beginning of evangelism!
- Evangelism is persuading a person to be a disciple of Jesus Christ!
- Matt. 28:18-20 18And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,20teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
- A disciple is someone who has been taught to obey all that Jesus Christ commands!
- “Whatever Jesus says, I promise in advance that I will do it!”
- The Mission of VCNP:
“Transforming ordinary people into extraordinary followers of Christ.”
- The Vision of VCNP:
“VCNP is called to EXALT the Lord Jesus Christ in all we do, EVANGELIZE the lost, ENCOURAGE one another through fellowship and small groups, EQUIP the saints for the work of ministry, and EXPAND the Kingdom of God in Phoenix and around the world.”
- The Value of Evangelism
- Evangelism is oftentimes offensive to non-Christians!
- To be a Christian is to have a different value system than the world has!
- Why Christians value evangelism.
- God values evangelism.
- We have been evangelized.
- a. Big changes came into our lives as a result of Jesus Christ!
- Our Motive for Evangelism
- Christians are people who love and like Jesus ! They have experienced Him, and so they tell somebody else!
- We value other people !
- We believe the best people can get in life is Jesus ! So, we try to persuade them!
- Some Tips to Help in Your Personal Evangelism
- Pray for some non-Christians.
- Pick three to five people and regularly pray for them to become Christians.
- “My church suggested that I pray for other people, so I put you on my list. I pray for you every day. What would you like me to pray for?”
- Look for opportunities to share with others what God has done in your life.
- Get some training on how to become more effective in sharing Christianity with others.
- “How to Become a Contagious Christian” class (or book)
- “How to Give Away Your Faith” by Paul Little
- Invite people to church on a regular basis.
- Invitations, business cards, etc.
- Use special events at church to invite people to: Christmas Eve Services, Easter, “Bring a Friend” weekends, Alpha, Women’s Breakfasts, etc.
- Miscellaneous ways
- “Here is a way that I could connect with somebody else in beginning the process of evangelism, of persuading them to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.”
