  1. Introduction
  2. Why Is Money So Powerful?
    1. Money holds the allure of us being able to attain God - like sovereignty.
      1. Exodus 20:3 (NAS) “You shall have no other gods before Me.”
      2. Luke 12:15 (NAS) Then He said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.”
      3. Mark 8:36 (NAS) “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”
    2. Money holds the allure of leading us to a place of inner satisfaction .
      1. The never-ending quest for “ It .”
      2. The two things that are “It” for me in my life:
        1. a. Doing God’s Will with all my heart.
        2. b. Doing it with people I love.
    3. Money promises to give us a sense of self - worth and importance.
      1. Eccl. 5:10 (NAS) He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity.
      2. I Pet. 1:18-19 (NAS) 18Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,19but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
