  2. Moving Into Real Friendship
    1. You must define friendship.
      1. Friendship is a growing commitment among peers to seek the well-being of each other.
      2. Phil. 2:3-4 (NAS) 3Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
    2. Recognize that building friendships is a lengthy process.
    3. Move beyond the level of superficiality .
      1. John 4:9 (NLT) The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”
    4. Master conflict resolution .
      1. Matt. 18:15 (NLT) “If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.”
    5. Your ability to experience human community is directly linked to the quality of your community with God .
