If These Walls Could Talk...

I’m sure you have noticed the walls going up for our new worship auditorium! They are really tall, aren’t they?

These walls mark a new season in the life of VCNP.

If we could hear what these walls were “saying,” I think they would be talking about being part of something of eternal significance - - it would be about being part of a place where ordinary people are transformed into extraordinary followers of Christ. I like to think our “walls” would be glad they get to be a part of making Jesus smile.

I think these walls are looking forward to things like... seeing how many lives will be committed to Jesus inside of them, how many people will be baptized, how many hungry people will be fed, how many bodies will be healed, how many people will be set free from addictions, how many marriages will be put back together, etc.

I think these walls would be blessed to be part of a place where people get to use their gifts for the Kingdom of God, and also a place where we encourage people to get out from behind the walls and get into the community to share the message of Jesus.

I pray for even more people in our community to see these walls and say things like, “Oh, yeah, that’s the church that does stuff in our community. They feed the poor, do back-to-school outreaches, and minister to single moms.”

Someone inside our church might be saying, “They helped me put my marriage back together.” Or, “They taught me how to be a better parent, a better Christian, a friend. They helped me overcome this addiction in my life, or they taught me how to love, etc.”

By the way we continue to reach out and minister to our community, we will determine what these walls “say” 10 years from now!

Now that I think of it, these walls do talk!

See you this weekend as I begin our new Series on the Book of Revelation!

Love,

Brian

Memorial Day Family Fun Day and Water Baptism

Everyone had fun at this year's Memorial Day Family Fun Day and Baptism at the Glendale Community College pool. "Celebration" was indeed the word of the day as 100 people were baptized, symbolizing their new life in Christ. Rejoicing continued through several games and activities, including great food prepared by the Marriage Ministry and relay, hula hoop, watermelon and jello eating contests. Kids also enjoyed some good slippery fun on the jumbo and slip-n-slides. We ended the evening with a massive family water balloon fight.

The beautiful weather and large amount of baptized people no doubt contributed to an amazing turn out. This was probably one of the best Family Fun Day and Baptisms we’ve had yet!

Father's Day Outreach

Our 2008 Father’s Day Outreach was very successful. Fourteen amazing volunteers helped us to serve the dads at VCNP. Each father received a free hotdog, bottle of ice cold water, and a flashlight. Moms and kids enjoyed hotdogs and water for a quarter each. We gave away 1000 hotdogs, 860 bottles of water, and 400 flashlights.
