First Memory Verse for January

I'm glad you've decided to memorize scripture with me this year. God always blesses the reading of his Word, and when we commit it to memory, it becomes so much more than just words off a page. We start to understand why the Bible really is the living Word of God. I'll be posting two verses every month on the first and fifteenth.

Here's the first verse I gave last night at illuminate, so start memorizing:

Philippians 3:13 (NLT)
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead....

Memorization tip:
This one came from my friend Paul last night. Write the verse down on a sticky note and post it on the mirror where you brush your teeth everyday. If you don't brush your teeth everyday, then I'd like to request that you add that to your list of resolutions for the year. Seriously, brush your teeth.

Good thinking, Coty. See how much more we can accomplish together?

Ya, if you don't do that, then maybe you should put a sticky note on your front door so you brush your teeth before you leave, then you will go into the bathroom and see the sticky note about the memory verse.

It may also be good to make a sticky note RIGHT NOW about doing both of these things so you don't forget either of them.
