  1. Introduction
    1. “Transforming ordinary people into extraordinary Followers of Christ.”
  2. What Does It Mean to be “An Extraordinary Follower of Christ”?
    1. Matt. 5:14-16 (NAS) 14“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;15nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.16Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
  3. Why Get Involved With Acts of Compassion?
    1. Because it will change you !
    2. Because we change the world one person at a time!

    3. Because it blesses God!
      1. Matt. 25:34-40 (NLT) 34“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.35For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’37“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’40“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”

comments

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful... acts of compassion do make us happy. There are so many ways to show kindness... Neighbors all have stories to tell. Giving others a chance to speak their mind, express their woes, divulge their doubts are ways that are so simple but significant. Neighbors are everywhere. Open hearts see the downtrodden. A few dollars can make a difference. Giving to some may result in smokes or a quart of ale. I know that there are some wounds, betrayals, defeats that can cause a soul to lose their mind and confidence. Sometimes what appears as laziness is really a defeated soul who is afraid to try. I let them tell me what's going on. I remind them that God will never leave or forsake them. An open ear, few dollars, so little, so very little. Add prayer then TRUST and praise God. He has all the answers to EVERY need. He sees the whole picture. He is not finished with any of us yet. Praise God! He is wonderful and worthy to be praised!
