I Love You Daddy
Recently I celebrated my 50th birthday (if you can celebrate such an event). A friend of mine gave me a small recorder to record thoughts, grocery lists, etc. He suggested I put things on there like “My name is Tom Quaid” or “I live at…”, you get the idea…ha ha, very funny. I took it out of its package but didn’t do anything with it. Unbeknownst to me my daughter Mollie took it and recorded a message on it. The message was, “I love you daddy”. I put the recorder into the case I bring to work thinking I was going to read the instructions when I got time. Later in the day I went to move my case when Mollie’s voice came from nowhere saying, “I love you daddy”. My heart soared as I heard this unexpected message. Many times I’ve been surprised by Mollie’s message of love over the past couple of weeks. Every time it makes me smile.
Today I was thinking how God is like that recording. Sometimes out of nowhere I feel how much God loves me. It always makes me smile. I don’t know when it’s coming, but I know it is coming, and I can’t wait for the next time. I hope you feel that God loves you, because He does! He said He loves you 2,000 years ago by making a way for you to spend eternity with Him. He says He loves you each day if you’ll listen, you just never know when it’s coming.
I never have figured out how to use that recorder, I’m afraid I’ll lose Mollie’s message. That recorder may be the best present I’ve ever gotten.
