An Introduction to VLI

The instructors are experienced pastors: recognized theologians who are committed to Vineyard-style ministry and who are experts in the fields that they teach.
- Vineyard Leadership Institute is a two-year, part-time academic program.
- VLI offer courses in biblical studies and theology.
- The VLI staff is made up of professors qualified and experienced to teach at university and graduate levels.
- VLI courses include interpreting scripture, church planting, leadership, preaching and teaching, power ministry, counseling, spirituality and many others.
- VLI will enable students to develop a sound, Christ-centered theology by providing the knowledge and skills needed to understand the scriptures.
- VLI will mentor students in the ministries of the church, to develop and hone their leadership skills, to discover their individual gifts and talents and to recognize the ministry God would have them pursue.
- VLI will encourage the students to draw close to God through personal prayer and meditation, so they may know His great love for them.
- VLI will work with students to encourage a passion for God's work in the world and through His church
“Is VLI right for you?”
- We are looking for the called and committed, the teachable and the yielded. We are asking you to devote 21 months of your life to be trained and molded so that you can effectively employ your gifts and talents for the kingdom of God.
- Is God calling you to leadership? Do other spiritual leaders also see this call?
- Are you willing to commit 20 hours per week for 21 months to prepare for leadership?
- Is there room in your budget for tuition, and books (aprox. $3,400 over 21 months)
If you think VLI might be the thing for you the next step is to let me know, you'll need to fill out an application and turn it in to me. The next entrance period for VLI will be in the Fall of 2008. Sometime before then you will need to schedule an interview with me (Dave McPherson), complete the two essays and have a pastor or ministry leader fill out the recommendation form and return them all to me.
If you feel that God is calling you to ministry and you know that you need to be equipped for that work, don’t let anything stand in your way. Remember we are accepting a limited amount of new students, so if you’re interested, be sure to let me know so we can reserve a spot for you. If you have any questions or just want to talk about if VLI is for you, please don’t hesitate to either call me at (623) 934-4000 ext. 389 or send me an e-mail to dave@vcfnp.com.
“How much time does VLI really take?”
VLI should take approximately 15-20 hours of the student’s time each week. That includes class time, mentoring, study time, etc. This time may increase or decrease depending on the student’s own learning style. VLI is a 21-month commitment that will require adjustment of the student’s schedule.
“What if VLI doesn’t fit my schedule?”
Most of our students are involved in part-time or full-time lay or paid ministry as well as having full- or part-time jobs, families, etc. It is possible to “do life” and take VLI, too.
If you are unsure about the time commitment, talk to your boss, your spouse, your pastor, or other wise council. If it seems like it simply won’t work, we advise to pray that the Lord would open your schedule up in accordance with His timing.
Students at VCFNP have their weekly classes on Tuesday nights. The majority of mentoring occurs on Sunday mornings, during 3d service, and Intensives are Fridays and Saturdays, twice per quarter.
Cost:
- $563 due with application
- $513 due each quarter thereafter for another six quarters
- Aprox. $50 for books each quarter
